Once you go black...

First, before I start, I just want to point out that I do not hate the planet.

Okay. Now that is out of the way, I am going to rant for a little while. What is up with people "going green"? It's like this silly trend like Atkins or Feathered Hair. It seems like another trend celebrities are trying to force on us "normal" people; however, they aren't really doing it themselves.

And at this time of year, with this type of weather; global warming is just impossible to believe. It's been snowing practically every other day for over a month. It gets to 40 degrees and I'm all, "heat wave!"

Not to mention that "going green" is a very expensive endeavor. Hybrid cars cost more to make and don't make so much sense in a place like this. The electric part of the car is charged when you push on the brakes. Here in Utah, when you are traveling on highways in low traffic (a rarity, I know) you don't push your brakes often. Your gas mileage ends up being about the same. Hybrid electric cars make more sense in places where you travel a few feet, hit the brakes, then repeat. High traffic urban areas.

I'm tired of people telling me to go green. I am tired of people saying they have stopped washing their hair or that they only use one square of toilet paper. No you haven't/don't. And that seems more hazardous to the rest of us humans than helpful.

I am going black. I am continuing in my current habits. I own a gas only car. (Take that Prius owners.) I will not cease driving it because it might save the planet. I will continue to wash my hair and use normal amounts of toilet paper. I will continue to recycle when it is convenient. I am not going to feel bad about it.

Getting to know all about you.

So, every couple months at work someone sends me a survey like this. They're a getting-to-know-you type thing and I thought I'd just share my answers from this time. I'm sure everyone is just dying to know about me!

1. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?
Not to my knowledge.
2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
Sunday, I cry when I watch movies. Loser.
3. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING?
I do, it’s all loopy and fun. I used to write really sloppy.
4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE LUNCH MEAT?
Is the person who wrote this British? We don’t spell favorite with a “u” in America. I like Turkey.

I don’t think my markets at work count, so no.
6. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU?
Um, yeah. I’m awesome.
7. DO YOU USE SARCASM A LOT?
No, psh. Who uses sarcasm?

9. WOULD YOU BUNGEE JUMP?
I would love to, but I think I would have to be pushed.
10. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CEREAL?
Depends on the day. It’s usually Multi-Grain Cheerios.

Running shoes, every time. Other shoes, meh.
12. DO YOU THINK YOU ARE STRONG?
No one is stronger.

41. DO YOU HAVE A SPECIAL TALENT?
I’m really clumsy. Is that a talent? It’s certainly special.

Like on Vay-cay? Road Trip!

Gabby and I went to Disneyland January 11th-13th. It was a short trip, but a great one.

I have been severely affected by the cold this winter. I'm usually happy because cold means I get to wear my jackets--I own over 30. This year, not even the thought of my jackets is making me happy.

So, I convinced Gabby she was also suffering from the cold and we went to Disneyland. We got to ride everything we wanted to. We ate some great food, snapped some photos, and bought some souvenirs. We even got to see the sun. I forgot what it was like.

But I think my favorite part of the trip was on Saturday night. We got on Indiana Jones at about 10:40pm and didn't get off until almost 11:30pm. The ride broke while we were on it! While we were in line I said that I hoped the ride would break while we were on it and we would have to walk off. It totally worked!

The park was closed by the time we finally got off and we got to walk through parts of Frontierland, Adventureland and New Orleans Square when no one else was there. It's really cool to be in an empty Disneyland. Gabby said it felt like a horror movie.

So, although I'm still cold and little depressed; I've got my great memory to keep me going until the sun comes back to Utah.

Who Are You? Who Who Who Who?

I'm doing this mostly because of Gabby. (What up, Gabby?!) I am a pretty simple person. I love soccer. (GO ReAL!) I love movies, TV, books and music. I like to laugh. I'm usually easy-going.

I am totally hating on the snow today. It's too cold. It took me an hour and a half to get to work today. I am really upset because yesterday was so warm I took Stitch (me dog) on a walk. It was so nice! I am over winter. I vote we impeach it and instate summer permanently. Summer will be like FDR.

Anyway, better get back to work...
